My Own Little World

Living on my own is of course stressful, but finding things that bring me to 'my own little world' in which I can relax and drift away on a raft of soothing moments is really important to me! Of course I can't do everything I would like to do, becuse they take too long and Bentley would make a ginormous mess in the meantime! So... I found myself relying on books to bring me into this tranquil place! In this blog, I'm going to tell you some of my favorite books (that I think everyone should read, hint hint) to maybe take you on my little adventure! Enjoy! :)

To start off, I want you to know that my all time favorite author is Ellen Hopkins! I have read all of her books besides her 'adult' content books. She has written eight young adult novels written in verse, and started in 2004. She is absolutly amazing, and guess what!? I GET TO SEE HER OCTOBER 25TH!! :D Her first book (which is by far in my top 10) was Crank. This story was loosly based on her eldest daughter's addiction to crystal meth, talking about how even the people who appear to have everything going for them can fall under the spell of the monster. Here is an excerpt from Crank.
Flirtin’ with the Monster Life was good before I met the monster After, life was great, At least for a little while. Just Before The Drop You know how you stand and stand and stand in line for the most gigantic incredible roller coaster you’ve ever dared attempt. Anticipation swelling, minute by minute by minute, you choose to wait even longer, to ride in the front car and finally it’s your turn. They buckle you in, lock the safety bar with a jolting clunk! Hook engaged, the chain jerks you forward. You start to climb Crank-crank-crank. Cresting the top, time moves into overtime as you wait for that scant hesitation, just before you drop You know how you feel at that instant? Well, that’s exactly how it feels when you shake hands with the monster.
Following up on Crank is Glass and Fallout. Ellen Hopkins also has Burned, Impulse, Identical, Ticks, and her most recent book Perfect. So check them out! :) If you would like to read about each book she has written, visit her website at http://www.ellenhopkins.com/!

Then of course there is the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer! I think everyone knows about them.. Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. These books are fantasy novels about vampires! I was totally psyched about moving to Washington, not only so I can see my husband everyday, but for the possibility that I may get to visit the town of Forks, Washington! This is the town that the Twilight Saga is based upon. Here is a website to visit to read up on these books as well: http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/! I hope you enjoyed a journey in my likes! :)
