Do a little dance! Why? Because it's round 2 of book club you guys!
I am sorry for the anticipation for this round to start since we have a very popular book as the featured title right now, Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James"
I actually thought I would need the week in between featured titles to be able to organize everything and clear my head of the other book, but I actually found myself wanting to start talking about it right away!
Because I am one of the hosts in this wonderful club we have started, I thought I should go forth and read the book before we actually start talking about it since everyone reads at their own pace and I want to know what you all are talking about so I can comment better and really get into discussions! I think that if I myself can talk to you and share my opinions better, that this book club will become even better!
We didn't really have the most wonderful turn out for round 1, but I was still impressed with some of the posts that were created to share! I hope that it was just a non interest in the book that we were reading and that from here forward we can have books that really interest people in the nomination pool! Please please please link up and participate! It's so much fun when we can communicate via blogs and on Facebook! You can even start a little disagreement about a book if you didn't like it! I just love to hear all of your opinions!!!
Any ways.. Let's get down to the nitty gritty of this post shall we?
Starting off, I want to say that when Fifty Shades of Grey was announced as the featured title I was a little nervous. At the same time as we announced it there were many posts going around saying negative things about the book and it just wasn't sitting well with me. I was intrigued to read it though so I jumped on the bandwagon! I hope you are liking it as much as I am!
Here are the questions that I have come up with for this week...
"There has been some pretty 'harsh' thoughts about this book, saying God will be ashamed of you if you lay your eyes upon the pages of this book due to some graphic scenes between Ana and Christian. Do you agree or disagree with this? Does it matter to you how these people are feeling? How do these thoughts and feeling make you feel?"
Okay first of all I am thinking to myself, who are these people to come out and post things about the things I can and cannot do? To me they are just being judgmental and telling me that God judges you which I do NOT think is true. If god is going to judge me for reading a book with sex scenes in it be by golly I'm already going to hell for things that I have already done in my life. I totally disagree with how these people and find it very hurtful for them to judge us like this. To me this book is more of an evolving love story than something all about sex.
"Ana seems to be bewildered with the thought of Christian Grey and all that he is in the begining chapters of this novel. How do you think her reaction about his physical appearance and self awareness of himself was depicted? Did you feel as if Christian Grey was amused by her inexperience with interviews or simply intrigued with where she was going next?"
I personally thought she was quite hilarious when she was interviewing Christian. I would have probably been the same way (clumsy, nervous, stupid) if my friend would have thrown me into a similar situation. I mean come on Christian Grey is a Greek God in the eyes of many people in this novel so of course you'd be thrown off guard if you just all of a sudden had to interview him! I thought that Christian was both amused and intrigued. I don't think he was really used to people acting like she did when interviewing him so it caught him off guard a little bit. Some of the questions and her forwardness was quite funny in my eyes as well! I wish I could be that forth coming with people!
I can't wait to see how many people participate this week and to hear their take on these questions! Have fun and be honest!
